What is Evorel conti?
Evorel Conti is a continuous, combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT) which is applied directly to the skin in the form of a patch.
The patches contain an even amount of synthesized hormones which mimic oestrogen and progesterone – the naturally occurring female sex hormones. These synthetic hormones are called estradiol and norethisterone. The patches help to subdue the symptoms of the menopause.
Evorel is also available as a patch which contains a single hormone (estradiol) in strengths of 25mcg and 50mcg.
Our pharmacy also stock Evorel Sequi and Estradot. Click “review more prices” at the top of the page to review the various patches we offer, and their prices.
Following your online consultation, you will be able to choose your preferred treatment to consider with our doctor.
If your order is approved by one of our prescribers, a prescription will be issued for our UK based pharmacy to dispense and dispatch. All items are shipped via discreet next-day delivery.
What is menopause?
The menopause is characterised when a woman’s periods stop. This usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55, but can start sooner or later.
The time it takes for periods to slow down and ultimately stop differs greatly between women, taking anywhere between a couple of months to a number of years.
During the menopause, the level of oestrogen in the body drops, which causes the following symptoms:
- Headaches
- Hot flushes
- Mood changes
- Night Sweats
- Pains in the joints
- Palpitations
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Reduced libido (sex drive)
- Reduced muscle mass
- Sleeping problems
- Vaginal dryness
While these symptoms don’t typically cause significant concern for most women, they can be very problematic for other women, interfering with their life and well-being. For this instance, HRT can be prescribed to rebalance the hormones in the body and relieve menopausal symptoms.
Estradiol replaces the oestrogen which is no longer being produced by the ovaries, while the norethisterone stabilises the treatment to prevent complications such as endometrial cancer. The two synthetic hormones work together to safely relieve the symptoms.
How to take Evorel Conti?
A patch is applied every 3 to 4 days. The treatment is packaged in a “memory” pack which explains when to change your patch.
Where do I apply Evorel patches?
Only apply the patch to the area indicated in the packaging.
Apply the patch to an area of hairless, clear skin below the waist, such as on the thigh or buttocks.
Do not apply Evorel patches to the torso, chest, arms, shoulders or stomach.
When applying the patch, avoid touching the adhesive (sticky) side of the patch. Partly peel the protective sheet and apply the patch to clean and clear skin. Gently peel the rest of the protective sheet and press the patch down, making sure the entire patch is in contact with your skin.
Press down on the patch firmly using the palm of your hand to ensure adhesion.
Once the patch has been applied to your skin, refrain from touching the patch as it may affect the adhesion of the patch. Take care when showering and dressing to prevent accidentally peeling the patch off of your skin.
To remove the patch, gently peel the patch away from the skin and fold the patch in half so that the sticky side sticks to its self, and throw the used patch in the bin.
After you remove the patch, there may be some residual glue which remains. This usually goes away on its own, but you can use baby oil to remove it.
What should I do if my patch falls off?
If your patch falls off, and it is not near the time of changing your patch, apply a new patch and change the patch as you would normally.
If your patch falls off, and it is near the time of changing your patch, do not apply a new patch straight away and apply the next patch as you would normally.
In either instance, do not alter the days you would change your patch.
